
CHICOPEE – Edward John Dubiel, 84, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, January 25, 2026. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home in Chicopee on May 11, 1941, a beloved son of the late John J. and Sophie A. (Tambor) Dubiel. He was raised and educated in Chicopee where he lived for most of his life. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam and attained the rank of Private First Class. Following his military service, he returned to Chicopee where he settled and became a chef working at many restaurants in the surrounding area. He was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed meeting up with friends to play bingo. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his loving and devoted siblings, Lorraine S. Paquette of Chicopee, and Thomas J. Dubiel and his wife, Diane, of East Otis, MA; his dear sister-in-law, June “Vivian” Dubiel of Guilford, VT; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear sister, Maryann Bingle who was Called Home on February 20, 2024; and his two dear brothers, Frank Dubiel and baby John Dubiel, Jr. Family and friends are invited to attend his Committal Service with United States Army Military Honors on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
