Obituary

Philip Andrew Gelinas passed away at home on December 21, 2025 at the age of 66. Born in Acushnet, Massachusetts on May 3, 1959, Phil spent his life in Acushnet.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lorraine and Charles Gelinas of Acushnet, his loving wife Rita Gelinas, and brother Daniel Gelinas and is survived by his son Aaron Gelinas and grandson Ayden Gelinas of Acushnet. He is also survived by his six siblings, Anne Lawless and her husband James of Hyannis; Charles Gelinas III and his wife Paula Gelinas of Hemet, California and Sovizzo, Italy; Mark and his wife Valerie of S. Dartmouth; Janet Paquette and her husband Gary of Middleboro; Peter of Eugene, Oregon; and Kevin and his wife Sarah of New Bedford. They will remember him with love and fondness of the memories shared.

Phil spent his life dedicated to family and friends. He loved and cared deeply for the people in his life. He was married to his wife Rita for 41 beautiful years and together had a son, Aaron. He loved spending time with them at home by the pool and later in life traveling to his second home in Myrtle Beach. Phil was elated with the birth of his grandson Ayden and loved spending quality time with him. Phil loved spending time with all of his family from the Christmas Eve parties hosted to Patriot parties he always made sure everyone felt welcome. He had a successful career in business which gave him the opportunity to travel. He became fascinated by seeing new places and spent his spare time traveling. He loved road trips and traveled extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest spending time with his brothers and seeing the national parks out West. Phil was also a world traveler, went to Europe and enjoyed music along the way. From Red Rocks to Warwick Castle there was always an artist to see. Phil enjoyed life to its fullest and was a true believer that life was about a little bit of everything.

A memorial will be held for Phil at Pacific Union Congregational, 526 Old County Road Westport, MA on Saturday, February 7,2026 at 10:00 A.M. followed by the reception downstairs of the church.
