Marcia J (Gay) Tolman, 89, of Leicester died Sunday, January 25th at Webster Manor. Her husband of 43 years, Robert P. Tolman died in 2021. She leaves her son, Randy Pierce of Brookfield , two daughters, Penny Eagleton and her husband, Mark of Millbury, and Sandra McCoy and her husband, William "Billy" of Calabash, NC; a sister, Carol McKinstry of Sterling; eight grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Shirley Mayberry of Cape Elizabeth, ME, and Madelyn Vanasse of Clinton, and several nieces and nephews.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Henry and Corrine (Lovely) Gay. Marcia lived a life rooted in service, community, and simple joys. She worked for many years in the cafeteria for the Leicester Public Schools, where she was known for her dedication and friendly presence, retiring in 1996.
Marcia was a former member of Leicester Federated Church, where she not only worshiped but also generously gave her time as a volunteer. Her commitment to children and families extended beyond her work, as she proudly served as both a Brownie leader and a Cub Scout leader, roles through which she guided and encouraged countless young people.
She especially cherished her time outdoors and looked forward each year to camping trips at Salisbury Beach, creating lasting memories surrounded by fresh air, laughter, and the beauty of the coast.
Marcia will be remembered for her kindness, her willingness to serve others, and the steady, caring presence she brought to her family, friends, and community.
Funeral services and burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton will be held at a later date. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, is assisting the family with arrangements.
