Obituary

GORHAM- Barbara J. Crockett, 86, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Gorham, Maine. Born in Brunswick, Maine, on January 16, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary (Moore) Wright. Beloved by friends and family alike, Barbara shared her kindness, quick wit, and love of life—qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

In the 1940s, Barbara’s family moved from Maine to Monson, Massachusetts. She grew up there with her parents and older brother, Kenny, and graduated from Monson High School in 1958. She was previously married to Donald Boudreau, with whom she shared four children. During her many years in Monson, Barbara built lifelong friendships. In 1979, the family relocated to Standish, Maine. Barbara later married Aaron Crockett, with whom she shared 35 years until his passing in 2019.

Barbara began her career at Standish Telephone Company in 1980, where she worked for more than 16 years as a customer service representative, dispatcher, and line assigner, forming many lasting friendships along the way. In 1999, she and Aaron moved to Wildwood, Florida, where she began a second career as office manager at Wildwood Country Resort. She found joy in the friendships she made there, the warm Florida weather, as well as her favorite hobbies—gardening, reading, swimming, and playing cards. After Aaron’s passing, Barbara retired for good at age 80, and she returned to Maine in 2021 to be close to her children, cherishing the comfort and connection of family in her later years. She lived independently at Bessey Crossing in Scarborough, where she formed meaningful new friendships whose company she treasured, before moving to the Inn at Village Square in Gorham. Her close friendships and her family were always at the heart of her life. Throughout these later years, she held dear the companionship of her lifelong friends and extended family members who continued to be an important part of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Kenny; and her husband, Aaron. She is survived by her children: Christopher Boudreau and his wife Sonja of Hallowell; Jonathan Boudreau and his wife Margaret of Limington; Matthew Boudreau of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Jennifer Gammon and her husband Stacy Gammon of Buxton. She was lovingly known as Mémé to her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, each of whom will carry forward her legacy of love and compassion. She also leaves behind her late husband’s children and grandchildren, with whom she shared connections throughout the years, as well as a niece, a nephew, many extended family members, and her cherished cousin and best friend, Pat.

Late in life, Barbara professed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. In doing so, she embraced the hope of eternal life that He promises. Barbara’s warmth and unwavering love, along with her natural ability to brighten every room with laughter and joy, will be deeply missed but never forgotten. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at The Inn at Village Square in Gorham, where she spent just over a year, and to the hospice team at Affinity Care of Maine for their kindness and support during her final days.
