
Robert A. "Rob" Dunton, 60, of Woonsocket died Sunday January 11, 2026 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the loving husband of the late Mary Margaret (Lawler) “Maggie” “May” Dunton. Born in Weymouth, MA, he was the son of the late Arthur H. Dunton Sr. and Brenda Lee (Badger) Dunton. He was raised in the greater Boston and South Shore Massachusetts area and resided in Woonsocket for many years.
Mr. Dunton was a veteran of the United States Navy. He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz.
Rob served as a firefighter at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station and also for the towns of Onset, MA and Scituate, MA. He also served in dispatch at Otis Air Force Base in Cape Cod and with Fallon Ambulance Company.
Rob loved to cook and his favorite times were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed his time as an EMT and teaching first aid as a CPR instructor.
Rob is survived by his children Nicki Dunton Kitchener of Warwick, and Amy Gariepy and her husband Scott Gariepy. He was the proud grandfather of Levi Kinzie, Alorah, Jax, Autumn, Owen, Leila, Marissa, Brandn, Kayden, Ben, Sam, Charlie, Ollie, Olivia and Mason. Rob was the brother of Marcus Dunton of Florida, Kathleen Famolare of Brockton, Ginger Dunton of Springfield and the late Arthur H. Dunton Jr. Rob is also survived by his late wife’s family including Michael Guilbeault and his wife Joanna, Debra Guilbeault and Catherine “Katie” Guilbeault and her fiance Arron DesRocher all of Woonsocket.
Services for Rob will be announced at a later date.
