
Margit (Ziegler) Peterson, 76, of E. Freetown, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Jeffrey A. Peterson having shared 55 years of marriage.
Mrs. Peterson was born and raised in in Gaustadt, Germany, daughter of the late Peter and Martha (Goller) Ziegler. She worked as a hairdresser there for many years before coming over to the United States. She then made her home with her husband in E. Freetown where they have happily resided for the last 48 years. She had worked as a teacher's aide at the Rainbow Workshop and Learning Center in Assonet until retirement.
Survivors along with her husband include her 3 daughters: Cynthia Houlihan and her husband Scott of Plymouth, Amy Knox and her husband Mark of Lakeville and Michelle Peterson of E. Freetown; her sister: Rosi Felt and her husband Peter of Stockton Springs, ME; along with 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven at 11:00 A.M.
