
Shirley A. (Bevan) Santley, 91, of Worcester died Wednesday, January 21st in UMASS Memorial Medical Center - University Campus with her loving family by her side. Her husband of 39 years, Reginald C. Stanley died in 1995. She leaves two sons, Clifford P. Santley of Worcester and Scott A. Santley and his wife, Tina of Leicester; five grandchildren, Christopher, Melissa, Nicole, Steven and his wife Misty, and John; seven great grandchildren, Tyler, Kyliegh, Madison, Mackenna, Maelyn, Caleb, and James; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Jane Hanley.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of James and Ethel (Hoglund) Bevan and she graduated from the former High School of Commerce. She was a member of Bethlehem Covenant Church, where her faith and conection to others were an important part of her life. An avid bird watcher, Shirley found peace in nature and took great pleasure in observing the birds that visited her yard. She loved gardening, tending to both flowers and vegetables, and took pride in everything she grew. In her earlier years, Shirley enjoyed camping trips to Cape Cod, creating cherished memories filled with laughter, fresh air, and time spent outdoors. Shirley also enjoyed entertaining family and friends at the lake house in Leicester, where she was known for her warm hospitality, good conversation, and welcoming spirit. Above all, Shirley will be remembered for her kindness, her love of nature, and the joy she found in sharing the time with those closest to her. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, January 27th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shirley's memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
