William “Bill” Scully, 85, of Worcester died Monday, January 19, 2026. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Rita (Hines) Scully; a daughter, Colleen Dowd and her husband, Paul of Westborough; a son, Kevin Scully and his wife, Kate of Wyckoff, NJ; a brother, Peter Scully and his wife, Patricia of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Carol Scully, Mary M. Hines and Mary G. Hines; five grandchildren, Declan, Delaney, Owen, Kyle, and Charleigh; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Leo Scully.
Bill was the gentlest and most kind man you would ever meet. He was the son of Joseph and Dorothy (Myers) Scully. He grew up in Arlington, was a graduate of Arlington High School and went on to earn his master’s degree from Assumption College. He dedicated more than 30 years of his professional career serving others while working for the Commission for the Blind.
He was a member of Christ the King Church. An avid golfer, he found great joy on the course with his son and brother and also loved his Thursday night golf league with his friends at Green Hill. Above all else, Bill’s greatest happiness came from his family. He took pride in watching his children and grandchildren play sports, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on. He volunteered countless hours coaching his children at Jesse Burkett Little League and the Girls, Inc. and Sacred Heart Church basketball leagues. He loved his weekly breakfast dates with his wife at Culpeppers and other local spots. He also cherished the family’s annual summer vacations to Cape Cod – traditions filled with laughter and lasting memories that will forever be valued.
His funeral is Friday, January 23, 2026, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester.
