DUDLEY – Sherrill D. (Benasky) Grant, 85, died peacefully Sunday, January 18, 2025 at home after a period of declining health.
She leaves her husband of 58 years, Peter J. Grant; 2 sons, Erik C. Grant and his wife Renee of Huntsville, AL, and P. Jacob Grant and his wife Jennifer of Dudley; 5 grandchildren, Griffin, Julianna, Michael, Lucas and Molly Grant; and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Grant of Dudley.
She was born on April 23, 1940 in Webster, the daughter of Charles and Bridget (Ziemba) Benasky and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1958. She lived in Dudley all her life.
Mrs. Grant first worked as a secretary in the warehouse at the American Optical Company in Southbridge. After raising her family, she was employed by the Dudley-Charlton Regional School District as a cafeteria worker. She retired as a secretary in the registrar’s office at Nichols College in 2005.
She enjoyed collecting antiques and toll painting items. She was a great cook. For many years, she and her husband took annual trips to the White Mountains to see the scenery and visit Twin Mountain.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, January 24, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Visitation will be held Friday, January 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
