Dr. John Joseph Colletti, D.C., of Westport, Massachusetts, passed away on January 14 at the age of 82.
John built a life rooted in Westport, the town he loved and proudly called home. He found his happiest hours on the water, boating on the Westport River, water skiing, and spending time at Baker’s Beach, where breakfast at the beach was one of his favorite rituals. Above all, he cherished his family and showed his love in steady, practical ways by being present, by coaching, and by making time for the people who mattered most.
John grew up in Brooklyn and Rosedale, New York. As a young doctor, he recognized that his home community lacked an ambulance service and worked tirelessly to raise funds and establish the first Rosedale ambulance service. During that time, he even helped deliver a baby during a heavy snowstorm, an example of the dedication and calm resolve that defined his life of service. That commitment continued when he later settled in Westport, Massachusetts.
A Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Colletti cared for patients throughout the South Coast community for many years, first at Chiropractic Associates in South Dartmouth and later at Colletti Chiropractic in Westport. He believed deeply in showing up for his community and served the Town of Westport in civic life, including as Chairman of the Westport Board of Health.
He is survived by his spouse Diane; his children Laura, John, and Nicholas; grandchildren Ava, Katherine, and Isabella; and his sister Lorraine.
A memorial service, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 12:30 PM at the Potter Funeral Home in Westport.
Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, immediately prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
