WEBSTER – Bruno J. Gilbert, 76, died peacefully at home on January 13, 2026, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Donna M. (Gomes) Gilbert; his 3 children, Lisa M. Bernardino and her husband Nuno of Portland, CT, Joseph R. Gilbert and his wife Charleen Amato of Billerica, MA, and Temple K. Barna of Woodstock, CT; his mother, Marie-Marthe (Doyon) Larson of Bristol, CT, 2 sisters, Diane McGivney and her partner Armand, and Denise Bellini and her husband Francis, all of Bristol, CT; 4 grandchildren, Austin Gilbert, Harmony Barna, Payton Barna and Leonel Bernardino; 1 great-granddaughter; his mother-in-law, Carol Gomes of Webster; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his step-father Paul Larson.
He was born on October 9, 1949 in Megantic, Quebec, Canada the son of Armand Gilbert and moved to Bristol, CT in 1956. He was a graduate of Bristol-Eastern High School, attended Central Connecticut State College and then completed the course of study at the Porter School of Design in Connecticut.
Mr. Gilbert was a builder and developer for many years, operating Gilbert Homes Inc of Bristol and Thompson, CT before retiring in 2023.
He was active member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Danielson, CT where he served as assistant moderator. He also was instrumental in many of the renovations of church buildings.
He enjoyed building anything, being on Webster Lake, boating, water skiing and snow skiing. He was a former member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge number 1010 in Bristol, CT.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 31 at noon in the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 247 Broad Street, Danielson, CT. There are no calling hours.
