Dora Rubi-Mendoza, age 99, of Foxborough, passed away peacefully and comfortably at home, surrounded by her loving and adoring family on Sunday, January 18, 2026, one month prior to celebrating her 100th birthday.
Born in Matanzas, Cuba on February 18, 1926, she was a loving daughter and one of nine children of the late Teodoro Rubi and Julia Mendoza.
Dora grew up and was educated in Cuba. In 1971, along with her family, she moved to the United States, first settling in Elizabeth, New Jersey. In 1977 she moved to the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston and finally for the past 20 years, resided in Foxborough.
A dedicated and loving homemaker to her adoring family, Dora’s family, whom she loved dearly was the essence of her life and happiness. She also enjoyed knitting and will be loving remembered for her exceptional cooking skills.
She was the dear and devoted mother of Claudia H. Acosta and her longtime companion Ariel Schmidt of Foxboro and the late Miriam Guerra. She was the cherished and proud grandmother of George, Hector, Jonathan, Melissa and the treasured great grandmother of Anthony, Ariana, Piper, Isabella, Leonardo, Benni and Aldo.
Services and burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
