1949 - 2026

Bruce L. Hubbard, 76, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026 He was the husband of Mary E. Benefiel and the son of the late Harold J. and Zelma M. (Little) Hubbard.

Born in Providence, RI, and raised in Seekonk, MA, Bruce was a graduate of Providence Country Day School, Colby College, and American International College. He enjoyed a distinguished career as a school psychologist, guiding students and directing educational programs at Exeter High School in Exeter, NH. After retiring, he continued teaching in the Mathematics Department at Durfee High School in Fall River, MA.

An avid sports enthusiast, Bruce coached soccer for more than 25 years, generously sharing his time, knowledge, and encouragement with generations of young athletes. He was also a passionate reader and devoted book collector, with a deep appreciation for travel, photography, poetry, singing and visits to museums. Above all, Bruce took special pleasure in word games and crossword puzzles which reflected his curiosity and lifelong love of language. He will be remembered for his compassion, intellect, and generous spirit.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Meghan Rose and her husband, Chuck, and their children, Molly and Jacob, of Los Angeles, and Nathan Hubbard and his wife, Lisa Winters, of Portland, Oregon; his step children, Julia Cunningham and her husband, Anthony Bustamante, and their children, Olivia and Kell, of Evanston, Illinois, Caroline Cardarople and her husband Seva Gunitsky, and their children, Xander and Cyrus, of Toronto, and Matthew Cardarople and his wife, Lauren, of Los Angeles; and his brothers, Gary and Pamela Hubbard, Marcus and Pauline Hubbard and their children, Timothy and Amy, and Jon and Marlene Hubbard and their children, Nicholas and Lucas.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring for family and friends, with details announced on the memorial page. Interment at South Dartmouth Cemetery in Dartmouth, MA will be private.
