Obituary

Christos “Chris” Nicolaou, 58, of Worcester died Wednesday, January 14th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. He leaves his mother, Eleni (Papas) Nicolaou; and his sister, Francine Nicolaou and her spouse, Catherine S. McDonagh of Holden.
He was born in Athens, Greece the son of the late Vasilios “Billy” T. Nicolaou and immigrated to the United States in 1969, beginning a life rooted in hard work, friendship, and kindness.
For several years, Chris was employed in food services at AdCare Hospital, where he took pride in his work and enjoyed being part of the community there. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where his faith and sense of community were an important part of his life. Outside of work, he had a love for sports, especially the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees.
Chris enjoyed shopping, watching movies, and going out to lunch with friends—activities that reflected his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and the people he shared them with. He enjoyed going to college football games, wrestling matches and beach trips with his friend, Steve. For several years, Chris was a member of the Genesis Club and enjoyed going on trips with Jim and other members.
Known for his kind heart and positive spirit, Chris had a special gift for making others smile and feel welcome.
He will be remembered for his warmth, his upbeat nature, and the genuine joy he brought to those around him.
His visitation is Tuesday, January 20th from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester.
