Carol A. (Cook) Cornell, 63, of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Roger I. Cornell, Sr.
Mrs. Cornell was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Wilfred W. and Dorothy F. (Pittsley) Cook and had been a lifelong resident of the city. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son: Timothy J. Cornell of Richlands, VA, her 3 daughters: Missie L. Campbell, Dusty L.M. Defino and Fantasia M. Cornell, all of New Bedford; 3 brothers: Wilfred W. Cook of New Bedford, Douglas E. Cook of New Bedford and Jesse A. Cook of Fairhaven; a sister: Betty L. Cook of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren; 2 godchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Allen B. Cook, Nancy A. Pittsley, Barbara L. Mello, David W. Cook and godmother of the late Paul D. Mello.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Kirby Funeral Home at 11:30 A.M.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10-11:30 A.M. prior to the service.
Interment to follow in Pittsley Family Cemetery, Freetown.
