
Edith E. "Sissy" Ahern, a precious child of God and a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Regal Care Courtyard in Medford. She was 78 years old.
Sissy was born in Everett on February 15, 1947, a daughter of the late James H. Ahern and Anne (Boland) Ahern. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School System. Sissy worked at the Girls Club in Charlestown where she was well known and later as a clerk at CVS. She enjoyed playing bingo, doing arts and crafts, crocheting, needle pointing, and sewing. She also loved traveling to Hampton Beach in New Hampshire every summer. Sissy was a longtime participant at the Life Focus Center.
Sissy is the beloved sister of Pat Harty and her late husband Bob, Anne Marie Whalen and her late husband Barry, the late Robert Ahern and his surviving wife Ellen, and the late James F. "Jim" Ahern. She is the loving aunt of Bobby Harty, Kevin Harty, Karen Harty, MaryHelen Whelan, Eileen Harty, Elaine Collins, Susan Clough, Denise DiIorio, Jay Whalen, Chris Whalen, R.J. Ahern, Ryan Ahern, Liz Rounds, the late Jenny Chalupa and Patti Harty, and also 21 great-nieces and great-nephews, and 1 great-great-niece.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sissy's visiting hours on Wednesday morning January 7, 2026 from 9:30 A.M. - 11:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
