Obituary

In Loving Memory of Paul A. Brassard

Paul Andre Brassard, age 91, of Manchester, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, following a brief illness, surrounded by more than 20 family members. Born and raised in Manchester, Paul led an extraordinary life, most notably recognized for his service as a Navy and Army veteran, his distinguished career as a firefighter, and his devotion as a husband, father, Pepere, counselor, friend, and servant of Jesus Christ, whom he worshipped as his personal Lord and Savior. Paul leaves this earth to walk on heavenly streets of gold!
Paul was born on November 16, 1934, to Rosaire and Rachel (Beland/Beaulieu) Brassard and remained a lifelong resident of Manchester. In April 1955, Paul married Claire (Pinard) Brassard, with whom he shared a loving marriage. Together, they raised six children and were blessed with twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, attending kids, grandkids and great-grandkids sporting events.
Paul served his country with distinction for eleven years. He joined the US Naval Reserve in March 1952 and was activated in February 1953 for the Korean War, serving aboard the USS Wisconsin for three years and traveling around the world. After retiring from the Naval Reserve in March 1960, he joined the New Hampshire Army National Guard in April 1960. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Paul was activated—leaving his wife and four young sons—and served in the Army National Guard until April 1963.
Paul was appointed to the Manchester Fire Department in December 1958. His commitment and leadership led to his promotion to Lieutenant in December 1967, Captain in September 1979, and District Chief in July 1984. Paul retired from the Manchester Fire Department in 1991. His dedication to service continued as he represented Manchester in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2006 and served as a Court Officer at Hillsboro Superior Court from 1991 to 2004.
Paul was known for his deep passion to help and serve others, a quality that defined his life. Those who knew him recognized his selflessness and compassion. As he entered the kingdom of Heaven, it is believed he heard the words, "Well done my good and faithful servant." Having worked as a teenager in the family business of Brassard & Martin Caterers, and as a cook during his time in the U.S. Army, Paul carried on his passion for food and serving others by starting a food ministry. Over forty years later, the food ministry Paul started in his garage, continues to feed over 300 families weekly through Tower Hill Church.
Paul enjoyed riding his motorcycle until the age of 89, often accompanied by his companion, Beverly Boggess as his passenger. He was a former member of the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) and served as Chaplin of his local chapter, New Covenant Riders, for two years. For more than forty-five years, Paul faithfully attended and hosted weekly home Bible studies. He also participated in several bowling leagues until the age of 90, regularly achieving scores above 200 and earning a reputation as “the person to beat.” Paul loved socializing with his many friends and was an avid chess and card player.
Paul is predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Claire, his daughter Marie, and his son Paul. He is survived by his children: Jean (Elaine) Brassard of Bow, NH; Michael (Rosemarie) Brassard of Gilmanton, NH; Norman (Louise) Brassard of Strafford, NH; and Suzanne (Peter) Johnson of New Durham, NH. He is also survived by his sisters, Pauline Morin of Manchester, NH, and Sister Irene Brassard of Montreal, Canada; and his cherished companion and friend for the past 7.5 years, Beverly Boggess of Manchester, NH.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on January 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Tower Hill Church, 45 Myles Drive, Auburn, NH 03032. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Paul to Tower Hill Church, Food Ministry ( https://th.church/giving/) or Convoy of Hope (https://convoyofhope.org/).
