Obituary

John “Skip” Doherty, 77, of Revere passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, surrounded by love. Born in Everett on March 13, 1948, he was the son of the late John and Jean Doherty.

Skip was a graduate of Everett High School. He spent 42 years at General Electric supporting the manufacturing and testing of jet engines, working tirelessly to provide for his loved ones.

Family meant everything to Skip. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Janice (Wacks), the love of his life, and a proud father of Eric and his wife Christine, and Brian and his wife Alicia. Nothing brought him greater joy than his four grandchildren—Nathan, Stella, Jack, and Wesley.

He was predeceased by his sister Deborah “Debbie” and his brother Mark, and is survived by his sister Bonnie and brother William “Billy,” with whom he shared an especially close bond. He is also survived by extended family, including his brother-in-law Ken along with many nieces and nephews.

Skip loved telling jokes and sharing his favorite bits from famous comedians. He was enjoyed staying active at the gym and found peace in creative pursuits, especially carving walking sticks and building stone cairn sculptures.

A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Sunday, January 4 at the Temple Emmanuel Cemetery off Route 114 in Danvers. In lieu of flowers, donations in Skip’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association.

Cemetery Road is a left turn off Route 114 in Danvers when heading toward Middleton about 1/2 mile off Route 1. There is a sign at the turn onto Cemetery Road listing 11 cemeteries including the Temple Emmanuel Cemetery.
