Attorney Charles A. “Buddy” Clifford, a 56-year resident of Burlington and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at his home in Burlington. He was 87 years of age.
Buddy was born in Boston on December 11, 1938, a son of the late Charles L. Clifford and Catherine (Curran) Clifford. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Mary’s Parochial School and graduated from Cathedral High School in Boston in 1956. He furthered his education and attended Boston College and New England School of Law where he received his Law Degree. He initially worked on the Boston waterfront as a proud Longshoreman before becoming an Attorney, where he began his own practice in Charlestown beginning in 1972 until his retirement in 2015. He was a member of the Charlestown Schoolboys Association and Bunker Hill Council #62, Knights of Columbus. He could be seen at any time lighting up his renowned pipe.
Buddy is the beloved husband of the late Veronica A. “Ronnie” (Walsh) Clifford. He is the devoted father of Carol Marino and her husband Joseph, Charles Michael Clifford, Steven Clifford and the late Attorney Linda Clifford. He is the loving Grampy to James and his wife Lauren, Cassandra and her husband Alexander, Daniel and his fiancé Melissa, Linda, Katherine, Jack, and his great-grandsons Gabriel, Caleb and Dominic. He is the devoted partner of Peg Walsh. He is the dear brother of the late Barbara Clifford-LaPorta, Sr. Carol “Maureen” Clifford, and Edmund “Teddy” Clifford and his surviving wife Frances. He is the brother-in-law of Paul Walsh and his wife Margaret, Janet Walsh, Robert “Ro” Walsh and his wife Judith and the late Michael Walsh and his wife Winnie. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Buddy’s Funeral on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. His burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. His visiting hours will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M. in the funeral home.
