Obituary

WORCESTER___Rose Borek, 98, passed away peacefully on Dec. 26 at Beaumont Skilled Nursing Facility in Northborough.

Rose was a lifelong resident of Worcester, growing up in the Polish section on Vernon Hill, and lived her retirement years on Grafton Hill. She was the daughter of George Fedyk and Julia Kirszak, who immigrated from Uscie – Zielone, Ukraine.

Rose was a former member of Our Lady of Czestochowa parish. She attended St. Mary’s School and David Hale Fanning Girl’s Trade High School, where she learned dressmaking & sewing, a lifelong skill & hobby. She worked in the tailoring business until she married, and later worked at Denholm’s, Sears and retired from Chase Paper Co. in Westborough.

Rose loved to sing and dance, and performed at Worcester’s Little Theater, a highlight of her young adult life. Rose also enjoyed cooking, especially Polish foods, gardening at home and visiting Tower Hill Botanical Gardens.

Rose was predeceased by her husband, Edward Joseph Borek; her son, Edward Richard Borek and 3 brothers, Joseph Fedyk, Stephen Fedyk and Michael Fedyk. She is survived by her daughter Lillian Borek and son-in-law, Mark Simon of Williston, Vermont and many nieces and nephews.

Rose’s family would like to thank her many neighbors, past & present on Grafton Hill for their help and support over the years that allowed her to live independently in her home into her later years. Rose had a soft-spot in her heart for strays, so please donate to your local Humane Society in her memory .

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on December 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St. Alfred Roy & Sons – Henry Funeral Service is directing service arrangements.
