Harriet P. (Agrell) Jodoin

CHICOPEE – Harriet N. (Agrell) Jodoin, 98, of the Fairview section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Saturday, November 29, 2025. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 17, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Harry and Nathalie (Palmquist) Agrell. She was born in Brooklyn and was raised in Sweden. When she was 18, she immigrated to the United States and in 1953, she settled in the Fairview section of Chicopee where she lived the remainder of her life. She was an avid Advocate for the Alliance for the Mentally Ill and received many plaques in recognition for her tireless work. She later became the Activities Director at the former Holyoke Nursing Home. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Leopold H. Jodoin who was Called Home on March 1, 2012. She met her husband, Leopold, in Sweden, after he parachuted from his damaged plane while serving in the Army Air Corps and her wedding dress was made from his parachute. Leopold and Harriet were later married on October 12, 1945 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 67 years together. She was also predeceased by her loving son, Lawrence E. Jodoin who was Called Home on November 17, 2024; and her dear brother, Hans Agrell. She leaves her daughter, Christine J. Kennedy and her husband, Michael, of East Longmeadow; and her longtime friend, Monica A. Gubala of Wilbraham. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Fairview Chapels (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. (The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home). A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
