Obituary

AUBURN – James J. “Jim” Zawalich, 56, died Sunday, November 30, 2025, of injuries sustained after being struck by a car.

He leaves behind his father, Walter A. Zawalich, Sr. of Webster; 2 brothers, Walter A. Zawalich, Jr. and his wife Megan of Brimfield, and John Zawalich and his wife Roxann of Auburn; 5 sisters, Beth A. McAffee-Zawalich, and Trina Fields, both of Leicester, Dorothy A. Pepper of Webster, Francine Spagnola of Millbury, and Melanie Nolan of Worcester; He was especially close with his niece Amanda Rodriguez of Webster who patiently helped him with finances and technology over the years; and several more nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and life-long friends (too many to name but they know who they are).

He was preceded in death by his loving mother Elaine D. (Pelletier) Zawalich, who passed in 2023 and by his brother-in-law, David A. Pepper in 2022, as well as many friends and family members who passed away.

He was born on June 20, 1969 in Worcester and had a large blended family. He graduated from North High School in Worcester in 1987.

Mr. Zawalich was previously employed at Polar Company, Metso, both in Worcester and at the Wright Line Company on Gold Star Boulevard, where he built furniture and assembly parts for many years before retiring due to illness.

He enjoyed his dog Lucy most, followed by fishing, skulls, heavy metal and making random art with wood and steel. He was a Harley Davidson fan until he was no longer able to ride, hanging posters and tapestry all over his walls. He kept the memory Blitz close to his heart.

He is loved and will be missed dearly.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster.
