William Edward Riley, 66

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

William Edward Riley, age 66, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 29, 2026 at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark. He was the beloved husband of Carol M. Alves Riley, to whom he was wed on May 18, 1986.

Born in Boston, MA on July 11, 1959, he was a loving son of the late Charles and Marguerite (Kelley) Riley.

Bill grew up in the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston and was a 1977 graduate of Catholic Memorial High School. A hard-working family man, Bill had been employed for over thirty years, as a truck driver for Federal Express. He also worked for Oilman, Inc. in Foxborough and when younger at the Advanced Pollution Control Corporation in Bridgewater.

A resident of Mansfield for nearly forty years, he was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield. Bill’s family was his greatest gift in life and while his children were growing up, he was particularly active in their sporting and scouting events. Another happy place for Bill was being at the lake in New Hampshire, where he taught his family waterskiing, boating and playing cribbage.

Along with his wife Carol and dogs “Ralph” and “Zoe”, they were always off somewhere sharing many-many adventures together. Bill had a special place in his heart for animals and for over ten years, volunteered his assistance at the Mansfield Animal Shelter. Above all else, Bill will always be fondly remembered for his strong work ethics, kindness, generosity and selflessness.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, William Joseph Alves Riley of Mansfield and his girlfriend Emma Champagne of Attleboro, Brian Robert Alves Riley and his girlfriend Emilee Smith of Mansfield and Colleen Mary Madden Riley and her boyfriend Christopher Walsh of Dedham. He was the brother of Charles Riley of Attleboro and his late wife Kathryn Riley, James Riley and his wife Jennifer of West Roxbury and Maryanne Pare. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Sunday, December 7th from 3:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
