Phyllis (Malo) Sullivan

CHICOPEE – Phyllis (Malo) Sullivan, 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on March 29, 1929 to Lillian Couture Malo and Phillip H. Malo, Phyllis graduated from Chicopee High School in 1946 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Secretarial Science from Bryant College in 1948. She lived in Holyoke for many decades, where she raised her family and was married to her former husband, the late George William “Bill” Sullivan. She worked in various retail and administrative roles from 1972 to 1985, and later joined Insurance Innovators Agency of New England, where she remained until her retirement in the mid-1990s. Phyllis belonged to the Kappa Delta Kappa sorority in college and maintained close ties with her sorority sisters for many years after graduation. She was a long-time member of the Chicopee Women’s Club and enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, and spending time with friends playing cards, seeing movies, and attending local theater. Phyllis was also a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church during her many years in Holyoke. Later in her life, she resettled in Chicopee, the city of her childhood, and attended Saint Anne Church. Her proudest accomplishment was raising her children, embracing the chaos and excitement they brought to her full life. She is survived by her seven children, Karen Sivitz and her husband, Bill, Gayle Sullivan and her husband, Dean Scranton, Paula Sullivan, Scott Sullivan, Valerie Sullivan and her husband, Roger Kazakeiwich, Glenn Sullivan, and Laura Sullivan Clifford and her husband, Dan Clifford; along with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 has the honor of assisting her family.
