
David Sone, 86, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Maple Court Assisted Living in Tifton. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Tifton’s First Methodist Church with the Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. Mr. Sone will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Tifton’s First Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Mr. Sone’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tifton Rotary Club.
Born December 14, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas, Mr. Sone was the son of the late Vivian Adams Sone and Dr. Law Sone, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nan Stanley Sone; one son, Stan Sone; one sister, Beverly Elbert Smith; and one brother, Dr. Law Sone, Jr.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University, and graduated with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas. Before retiring, he was employed in Texas at Bank of America as a Trust Officer. He was a long time member of Chapelwood United Methodist in Houston, Texas as well as Tifton’s First Methodist Church. In his younger years, he was an Eagle Scout.
Mr. Sone is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Jim O’Rourke of Denver, Colorado and Betsy and Jonathan Jones of Tifton; a daughter-in-law, Janet Sone of Rockport, Texas; his grandchildren, Katie O’Rourke, Ryan O’Rourke, Will Jones, Becca Jones, Hays Jones and Chris Sone; his great-grandchildren, Devin Sone and Kara Sone; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sone’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Maple Court Assisted Living in Tifton and his loving caregivers for their exemplary care of Mr. Sone.
