Michael Glenn Smith, 69, of Tifton, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Tifton First Methodist Church, with the Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. Mr. Smith will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Tifton First Methodist Church. Dr. Joel Johnson, Dr. Robert Bowman, David Hilliard, Michael Gibbs, Tommy Bowen, and Rob Coleman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Asbury Sunday School Class at Tifton First Methodist Church.

Mike was born on March 30, 1956, at Moody Air Force Base and grew up in Tifton. He was the first-born son of Dr. Robley Dunglison Smith III and Maxine Vincent Smith, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his beloved stepmother, Ann T. Smith, who held a special place in his heart. His grandmothers, Ruth Burns Smith and Louise Ray Griffith, as well as a brother, Carl Vinson Walters, also preceded him in death.

Mike attended Tift County High School and graduated from Howie Academy. He then attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Georgia Southwestern. He worked for 16 years as Plant Manager at CE Minerals and finished his career in the Quality Control/Design Lab at Reeves Construction.

Mike’s love for the outdoors began in childhood and remained a constant throughout his life. He found joy not only in the woods and on the water but also in sharing these experiences with his children, grandchildren, and the many friends who treasured time spent with him. Mike and Pat created fond memories at Jekyll Island, catching “doormat” flounder, and trolling Lake Talquin for crappie “slabs.”

Mike also found great pleasure in tending his vegetable garden, a pastime he cherished and found very therapeutic. Each season, he took pride in nurturing an immaculate garden and delighted in sharing its harvest with family and friends.
Mike is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Pat Smith; his children, Laurie (Blair) Veazey, Ross (Kim) Smith, Caroline Smith, Jason Leverette, Jared (Amber) Leverette, and Jade Leverette; his grandchildren, Wills Tyre, Megan Veazey, Maddie Smith, Jamie Leverette, Jaxon Leverette, and Rhett Leverette; his siblings, Robley (Roxanna) Smith Jr., Lisa Robinson, Greg (Karen) Smith, Debbie (Scott) Patton, and Julie (Frank) Segal; and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial gifts may be made to Tifton First Methodist Church, General Fund, 107 West 12th Street, Tifton, GA 31794.
