Obituary

Edward "Ed, Eddie" Michael Feeley, Jr., 92 of Holden, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home. Ed was predeceased by his wonderful wife of 63 years, Carol, in 2018, and is survived by their seven children; Edward M. III, Mark, Maura, John (Deb), Liz (Sam), Trish (Bob), and Matt (Kelley) and his younger brother, John Feeley (Kathy). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Timary, Mike, Ryan, Nick, Alex, Lindsay, John, Dan, Laura and Matthew David; and great grandchildren Sophia, Vera, Cruz, Jax, Ever, Tyus, Hannah, Colin and Gavin and many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his sisters; Sr. Patricia Feeley SSJ, Margo Kelleher, Mary Toomey, and Casey McLaughlin.

Ed was born in Worcester, the son of Edward Michael Feeley, Sr. and Agnes (Nevalsky) Feeley, and one of six children. He graduated from St. Peter’s High School in the Class of 1952. He played football and basketball in high school and was a natural athlete as well as an avid sports fan (he coaxed half of his children to be Yankee fans and Carol coaxed the others into being Sox fans). In his later years he would begrudgingly watch the Sox yet quietly embraced her team. He also coached and mentored many young ball players in little league baseball at Maloney’s Field in South Worcester.

After high school, Ed served our country as a Private-2nd Class in the Korean War and was Honorably discharged from the Army in 1954. He was stationed at the DMZ between North and South Korea and his children cherish the stories he has shared about his experience. When Ed was a young boy, his Uncle Phil taught him how to make a radio out of an oats box and wire. This experience led to Ed passing a Morse Code test and being appointed as a telecommunicator in the Army.
Carol waited for Ed as he served our country and they made a home and family at Stoneland Road in South Worcester, then ultimately created a social hub at Whitmarsh Avenue in the Greendale section of north Worcester.

A proud and quiet man with a mischievous smirk, Ed worked tirelessly at multiple jobs to support his family. For over 30 years he worked at George Meyer Manufacturing Company and became a Foreman. He was the last person to lock the door after George Meyer shuttered. While working days at his full-time job, he also bartended at the VFW Post and held many other part-time jobs to support his family. His children learned the value of hard work and loyalty from him and Carol.

Ed and Carol learned to golf in their 50’s and enjoyed many rounds with family and friends until their mid-80’s. They created a Family Open golf tournament that brought many people together. Ed and Carol’s home was always a hub for family and friends to gather – truly an open door. He was typically quiet yet never wanted to miss a family party or impromptu gathering.
A hard working and wise man, Ed was very proud of his children and supported them through their many interests and chosen paths. The legacy he and Carol built extends beyond their seven children.

Ed loved listening to music, especially crooners from the 50’s like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Al Martino, and Nat King Cole – yet he also took a liking to Celine Dion, P!nk, Eva Cassidy and many more! His favorite song was “My Way” by Sinatra. Well Dad…

“And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I’ll say it clear
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain
I’ve lived a life that’s full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way.”

Rest in peace, Dad, you’re with Mom now.
