Jaime Velazquez Ramos, 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2025, at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico on November 8, 1951. Jaime carried his heritage with pride throughout his life. He is predeceased by his parents, Gloria Velazquez, Narciso Velazquez, his sister, Tina and his brother, Nelson. Jaime leaves behind seven children, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who will forever cherish his memory. He is also survived by his five siblings, Ismael, Jose, Marta, Ivan, and Osvaldo, each of whom held a deep love and respect for him as the eldest among them.
A determined and hardworking man, Jaime devoted himself to providing a better future for his family. With great effort and perseverance, he brought his parents and siblings from Puerto Rico to the United States, offering them the opportunity to build a new life and get ahead.
Jaime was employed by the City of Hartford and spent many dedicated years working as a custodian at Hartford Public High School. His work ethic and steady presence were felt and appreciated by all who crossed his path. After a long career marked by reliability and commitment, he retired from his position, leaving behind colleagues who admired his steady presence and strong work ethic.
To those who knew him best, Jaime’s love for baseball was unmistakable. He was a proud Red Sox fan and in his younger years, he was well known around Hartford for playing the game he loved. Baseball brought him joy, purpose, and lifelong friendships. Let’s not forget his love for the casino.
Jaime will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Visitation will be held in the Chapel at Hartford Community Funeral Home & Cremation 380 Maple Avenue, Hartford, CT on Tuesday November 18, 2025, from 3:00pm till 7:00pm
