
Sue Howell Fletcher, 87, of Irwin County, Georgia, a beloved wife, mother, Mama Sue and Grandma Su Su, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, November 14, 2025, at Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church, in Irwin County, with the Rev. Ike Thomas and the Rev. Ed Reaves officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
Mrs. Fletcher was born December 19, 1937, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Earnest Lovett “Jake” & Alvie Gay Howell. She worked with the Georgia Department of Transportation in the personnel department and retired after 30 years of service as an EEO Officer. She loved to travel, paint, garden, and most of all shop.
Mrs. Fletcher had a beautiful soprano voice and was a member of a singing trio that traveled the east coast as a teenager. She was a piano player and a piano teacher. Mrs. Fletcher was a member of Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she took part in leading the singing and playing the piano.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Fletcher of Irwin County; children: Wanda Conger of Irwin County, Pamela C. Barry & Dan of Brookfield and David Conger and Mary Alice Lundy of Chula; step-children: Bobby J. Fletcher, Jr. & Charlotte of Fayetteville, North Carolina, James M. Fletcher & Wanda of Perry, Brian A. Fletcher & Barbara of Henderson, Nevada and Joseph S. Fletcher of Peterburg, Virginia; grandchildren: John Hampton & Lori, Charles Conger & Christina, Grant Barry & Morgan and family, and Heath Barry & Sam and family; and great-grandchildren: Stella Hampton and Callie Hampton. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Jessie Cleghorn, Gordon Howell, J.B. Howell, Grace Paulk, Alex Howell, Athlene Howell, an infant brother, Stephen Howell and daughter-in-law, Mary Evelyn Conger.
