
Barbara A. Magdis, 87, formerly of Auburn, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at The Overlook in Charlton.
She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Matthew and Florence (Zostant) Nugent. Barbara lived and raised her family in Auburn before moving to Whitinsville in her later years. Her husband of 55 years, Joseph A. Magdis, predeceased her in 2016.
Barbara is survived by her two sons, Joseph P. Magdis and his wife, Catherine, of Charlton, and Jeffrey J. Magdis and his wife, Stephanie, of Woburn; her grandchildren, Zachary Magdis and Samantha Magdis; her sister, Carol E. Stodulski and her husband, Paul, of Grafton; her brother, Michael F. Nugent of Worcester; her nieces, Karyn and Kathy; her great-niece, Nicole; and many special friends.
She was a registered nurse for many years before retiring. After graduating from .Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing, her nursing career included service in hospitals, private duty care, and nursing homes. She was also always there to help family and friends in their time of need using her nursing skills.
Barbara found joy in reading, working on puzzles, playing card games, and cheering for the Red Sox and Patriots. She loved swimming, visiting Cape Cod and Florida, and traveling to see her dear friend, Joan. Above all, she treasured laughter and companionship with family and friends—whether over coffee and lunch or during family cookouts and dinners.
Barbara also had many hobbies. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She was also known to collect lighthouses which she enjoyed decorating at her Cape Cod home. A favorite thing of hers was Christmas trees. She was known to decorate them year round and display them beautifully.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext., Charlton. Burial will be private in Fairview Cemetery, South Grafton.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Alfred Roy & Sons – Henry Funeral Service Memorial Chapel, 33 Ward St., Worcester.
