Gorham, Maine - Lois Muriel MacDonald, 82, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on November 1st, 2025. She was very much loved and will be missed.
She was born to Harold Elisha Folsom and Helen Gertrude (Belcher) Folsom on April 3rd 1943, in Royalton, New Brunswick, Canada. She spent her childhood in Long Settlement, New Brunswick, Canada and attended the Centreville school system. She married Gilbert (Sonny) Dennis MacDonald on June 10th, 1960. She attended Baptist churches as a youth, then Methodist and Congregational churches throughout her life. Lois’ life was caring for her family. She also worked as a school teacher’s aide, in retail, and as a receptionist for real estate and with the Mercy Hospital Chaplaincy.
She enjoyed music, reading, sewing, drawing, writing, birdwatching/feeding, and took several college courses in her later years. Lois and Sonny enjoyed the outdoor life and often took their children camping and encouraged them in many extracurricular activities.
Lois was pre-deceased by her husband Sonny, and her brothers Laurel, Joseph, Clair, Robert, and John. Lois is survived by her sister-in-law Joan Barrett. She is also survived by her three children, Michael and Wendy (Moynihan) of North Berwick, Maine, Gilbert (Scott) of Westbrook, Maine, and Karen and Michael Fitzpatrick of Houlton, Maine. Her grandchildren are Ian and Sara (Breton), Brenna and Charlotte (Coburn), Nicholas and Elishia (Dodge), (Seth, pre-deceased), Emily and Josh Rich; and her great-grandchildren are Kellen, Aurora, Quincey, Theo, Linc, Aria, and Seth. She was loved by all.
