Windell “Joan” Simpson, 79, of Albany passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, at her residence. A private funeral service and burial will be held for Mrs. Simpson at a later date.
Born January 13, 1946, in Omega, Mrs. Simpson was the daughter of the late Monroe Lee Brown and Irma Baker Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Weymon P. Simpson; two brothers, Spud Brown and Randall Brown; and two sisters, Linda Boyd and Peggy Stinton. She took loving care of her family as a homemaker; and she was loved by her family and will be missed.
Mrs. Simpson is survived by two sons, Leon Shank, Jr. of Moultrie and Jason Stair of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Danna and David Plymel of Albany and Rita Crosby and James Claxton of Columbus; one brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Carol Brown of Berlin; two sisters, Jean Anderson and Patsy Pate, both of Moultrie; five grandchildren, Matthew Plymel, Erica Plymel, Aaron Crosby, Ashley Hall and Ryan Shank; and eleven great-grandchildren, Zayne Plymel, Kylie Milan, Aaliyah Stevenson, Brady Plymel, Rider Hall, Michael Milam, Kyky Hall, Chris Hall, Jace Plymel, Emmie Hall and Braylen Winn.
