Obituary

“USEdward T. "Eddie" Connolly, a 35 year resident of Medford and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in his home. He was 84 years of age.

Eddie was born in Boston on May 20, 1941, a son of the late John Connolly and Mary (Merrick) Connolly. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Boston Trade High School in 1957. Eddie enlisted into the United States Army on November 19, 1963 and served his country with honor during the Vietnam Conflict. He was Honorably Discharged on April 21, 1964 with the rank of Private. He then enlisted in the United States Army Reserve, being discharged on February 24, 1977, and then enlisting in the Massachusetts National Guard, being discharged on October 14, 1978 with the rank of Specialist. Eddie worked as a Lineman for Verizon for 30 years, and previously worked for New England Bankcard as a Microfilm Developer/Machine Repair, and as a Shipwright at the Boston Naval Shipyard. He most recently worked at The Village in Winchester in the maintenance department. Many years ago, Eddie started the Gym Hockey program at St. Catherine's Church in Charlestown. He loved his grandchildren above all else and enjoyed the special moments he was able to share with each one of them. He was a member of the American Legion Post 19 in Somerville.

Eddie is the beloved husband of 60 years to Charlene T. (Haley) Connolly. He is the devoted father of Richard Connolly, Brian Connolly and his wife Maureen, Kevin Connolly, and Steven Connolly. He is the loving Papa of Kaleigh, John, Grace, Ava, Cheyenne, Emma, and to his great-granddaughter Lydia June. He is the dear brother of Grace Connolly, and the late Kay Rooney, Helen Connolly, Richard Connolly, John Connolly, Henry Connolly, Robert Connolly, and Mary "Sissy" Farrell. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eddie's Funeral on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. His visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. in the funeral home.
