Richard Todd Sammons, 61, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A memorial
service will be held for Mr. Sammons at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025, at a location in Tifton to be announced later.
Mr. Sammons was born in Rex, Georgia (Clayton County) on October 24, 1963, to the late Leon Sammons and Grace Argroves Sammons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sharyn Sammons Phillips.
Mr. Sammons had many interests which included football and the Martial Arts. He considered the Martial Arts as his ministry and was a Karate instructor at the YMCA in Tifton and he was a certified third-degree Black Belt (Tang Soo Do). He was also an active member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the War Room Prayer Group.
Mr. Sammons is survived by one niece and her husband, Kristie and Erik Spinks of Locust Grove; one nephew, Randall McCord and his wife, Ivonne, both of Newnan; one great-niece, Kendra McCord of Newnan; two great-nephews, Andrew McCord of Newnan and Jake Spinks of Jackson; two stepsons, Chace Sammons and his wife Lindsey, and Tripper Sammons, all of Tifton; and numerous cousins.
