Obituary

Dorothy Jones, 61, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15th, at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 45 years, Tho Ngo; a son, Michael Jones; a daughter, Melissa Huynh and her husband, Vinh, of California; and four cherished grandchildren — Emma, Hailey, Nolan, and Brianna Huynh, all of California. She also leaves her adored granddog, Pabu; a brother, Michael Jones of Chicago, IL; a sister, Joyce Jones and her husband, Richard, of New Jersey; along with beloved family and many treasured friends who brought joy and companionship to her life. She was predeceased by her parents, Melvin and Katherine (Brown) Jones.

Although born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dorothy made Massachusetts her home for most of her life, where she built lasting friendships and beautiful memories. She dedicated herself to a long and fulfilling career with the Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA). Dorothy began her tenure there as a bus driver and later served as an inspector and a secretary for the union, collectively devoting 26 years of service. Her work ethic, commitment, and passion for her job made her a valued and respected member of the WRTA family. Dorothy was a true caregiver at heart — someone who loved deeply and gave selflessly. She had a contagious zest for life, and her smile could light up a room, leaving those around her feeling loved, seen, and uplifted. Her greatest joys in life came from loving her family and spoiling her grandchildren and granddog. She lived each day with a “make it a great day” mindset, embodying strength, determination, and a fearless advocacy for what she believed in. Outside of work and family, Dorothy found joy in the little things that made life special. She loved playing bingo at Foxwoods, cruising in her car while listening to music, and enjoying live concerts with a draft beer in hand. Her walks along Lake Avenue Park brought her both peace and pride, reflecting her quiet determination and drive to reach every goal she set for herself. Dorothy's presence was a gift — a source of wisdom, resilience, and unconditional love. Though she has passed from our sight, her joy, kindness, and love will shine in our memories forever.

Her calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 21st from 4:00pm until 7:00pm in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Her funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 22nd beginning at 10:00am with a calling hour from 9:00am until the start of the service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster Street.
