Obituary

Ann Turner, 81, of Chula passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service will be held for Ms. Turner at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Waterloo Baptist Church with Rev. Darnell Teal and Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. Following its completion, she will be laid to rest at Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery where Rev. Duran Paulk will conclude.

Chase Powell, Cole Ryder, Garrett Chambless, Jeremy Chambless, Casey Joyner, and Luke Joyner will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers include Kathy Donald, Sally Franks, the Irwin Co. Class of 1962, and Ms. Turner’s nephews; Gary McCurdy, Greg Gladin, Ricky Joyner, Jody Joyner, Howard Layton, and Rusty Moore.

Ms. Turner was born on March 30, 1944, in Turner County to the late Noel Joyner and Mazie Lee Dean Joyner. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Turner, two sisters; Eleace Layton, and Dorothy McCurdy, and two brothers; Bo Joyner and Lamar Joyner. She served as a dietician before retiring and was a faithful member of Waterloo Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter and son in law; Michelle and Bill Ryder, one son and daughter in law; LaDon and Kacee Chambless , one brother and sister-in-law; Charles and Wanda Joyner of Waterloo, three sisters and one brother in law; Grace Gladin (Harris), Joyce Moore, and Katrina Joyner, grandchildren; Chase Powell, Garrett Chambless (Lagan), Jeremy Chambless (Lauren), Cheyenne Ryder (David Richardson), and Cole Ryder, and great grandchildren; Kylee Bryan, Mylee Chambless, John Hilton Chambless, Joseph Chambless, and Jase Chambless.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Traditions Hospice and Palliative Care. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Traditions Hospice and Palliative Care for their excellent care provided to Ms. Turner.
