Obituary

WEBSTER – Lawrence H. Ekey, 78, died Saturday, October 11, 2025 after being stricken ill at home. His wife of 25 years, Rita L. (Bomba) Ekey, died in 1995.

He leaves 2 sons, Timothy J. Ekey and his wife Lindsay A. Ekey of North Yarmouth, ME, and Jonathan M. Ekey of North Palm Beach, FL; 2 grandchildren, Henry Parker Ekey and Cameron Jeffrey Ekey; 4 brothers-in-law, Rev. Paul M. Bomba, pastor of Saint Joseph Church in Auburn, David J. Bomba of Grafton, Joseph M. Bomba and his wife Debra of Windham, ME, and John P. Bomba and his wife Victoria of Boylston; a sister-in-law, Emily M. Bomba of Webster; several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Halpin and by his brothers Donald and Richard Ekey.

He was born on November 18, 1946 in Buffalo, NY a son of Joseph P. and Irma (Habeney) Ekey and was raised there. He lived in Webster most of his adult life.

He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Ekey worked as a shipping and receiving clerk at the former Stevens Linen Associates in Dudley. He then was a custodian at Eisenberg Assisted Living in Worcester for over 10 years.

He was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, October 18, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, with his brother-in-law as the celebrant. Burial, with military honors provided by the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council, will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 AM Saturday morning in the funeral home, prior to the Mass. Donations in his name may be made to Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA 01570.
