DUDLEY – John “Yanek” Jankowski, 66, died Thursday, October 9, 2025 at home in the presence of his family after a brief but intense battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Janice M. (Roy) Jankowski; a daughter, Anne-Marie Barnett and her husband Brian of Dudley; a son, John F. Jankowski and his fiancée Brittany Wheeler of Webster; a granddaughter, Olivia Jankowski; his mother, Aniela (Niemiec) Jankowska; a sister, Halina Wrona and her husband Zbigniew; a brother, Edward Jankowski and his wife Christine, all of Auburn; 2 sisters-in-law, Ela Szambelan and her husband Marian of Worcester, and Joanne Haggerty and her husband Kevin of Putnam, CT; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Henryk Jankowski in 1989.
He was born in Gorzyczki, Poland on July 16, 1959 a son of Franciszek Jankowski. He emigrated to Dudley in 1972. He graduated from Bay Path Regional Technical Vocational High School in Charlton in 1978.
Mr. Jankowski was a machinist at the former Bermer Tool Company in Southbridge for 25 years and currently at the Pursuit Aerospace in Eastford, CT for over 15 years.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Church in North Grosvenordale, CT. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, golfing, telling jokes and visiting friends at the American Legion. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
His funeral will begin Wednesday, October 15, at 9:00 AM in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Church, 18 Main Street, North Grosvenordale, CT. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 on Tuesday, October 14, in the funeral home.
