Robert (Bob) J. Couture, born January 30, 1948, passed away October 4, 2025, surrounded by family members, in Burlington, MA.
Bob was born and raised by Roland and Alice (Jameson) Couture in Lawrence, MA, graduating from Central Catholic High School. After high school, Bob enlisted in the Army and served for three years.
He was a heavy equipment operator in the IUOE Local #4 Union of Operating Engineers.
Bob was extremely proud of his family and loved telling everyone about them. He would tell stories and often repeat them every time he saw you, to make sure you knew how proud he was. From coaching ice hockey when his boys were younger, watching his daughter cheerleading and coaching her basketball teams, he was always involved in their sports and teams.
When he became a Grandpa, this team spirit continued but quickly moved to a Dance Grandpa. Bob worked on building sets for dance competitions and missed not one of the long days of those competitions. Always a smile on his face and knowing all the girls and their families, he would cheer them all on.
Up until last year, Bob was still coaching basketball. He remained active playing golf, surprising friends and family members with a pop in visit.
Bob is survived by his daughters, sons and their families. Lori and Steven Bistany of Manchester NH; granddaughters Mikayla and Ryan McGowan, Alexis Brown and her fiancé Alex Frost and their little boy Beckem (great-grandson). Sheri and Walter Miller of Billerica, MA; grandchildren Corey and Kristen Miller, Michelle Miller and 5 great-grandchildren. Robert Jr. and Somer Couture; grandchildren Ashley and Bobby III. Michael Couture; grandchildren Mark, Skylah and Greyson. Casey Couture; grandchildren Kayla, Logan, Camdyn, Candace, Aubrianah. and brother in law Jack Duke, his former wife, Linda Couture and her partner Cary Spaulding. He also leaves behind many friends he’s made along his journey in life.
He was predeceased by one sister; Gail Duke and one brother; Frank Couture.
Bob was loved and will be very missed.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 6 to 8 pm at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
Committal prayers and military honors will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 10 am in NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
