Obituary

Worcester – Henry Ayik, 90, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence.

Mr. Ayik is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Eleanor R. (Juros) Ayik; his three children, Robert Ayik and his wife Lynn of Wylie, TX, Renee Audette and her husband Normand of Millbury and Robin Escobar and her husband Fernando of Worcester; six grandchildren, Stephen Smedberg, Rebecca Audette, Anna Ayik, Benjamin Ayik, Sarah Audette and Joseph Audette and many nieces and nephews.

Henry was born in Worcester, son of the late Salim and Mary (Haddad) Ayik and is also predeceased by 4 brothers, Norman Ayik, Bahajee Ayik, George Ayik and Arthur Ayik and 4 sisters, Adele Svendson, Najala Lindquist, Victoria Bicknell and Lynne Steeves.

Mr. Ayik attended the former Worcester Boy’s Trade High School in Lincoln Square where his studies focused in automotive repair. He then proudly served in the United States Army. Henry worked the majority of his work career at the General Motors Plant in Framingham, where he worked for 28 years as a benefit representative for the United Auto Workers retiring in 1993.

Henry always enjoyed taking time to be outdoors, especially it if involved deer or pheasant hunting, some quiet time in the river fishing for trout, taking a hike or just simply walking along the Blackstone Rail Trail. Henry was proud of his garden every summer and enjoyed sharing the tomatoes and cucumbers he grew with his family and friends. His passion for cars started at a young age and he especially enjoyed restoring and working on his 1963 Chevy Impala and entering it into car shows as well as watching and attending auto races. Mr. Ayik was an avid fan of boxing and was always happy to take a minute and listen to music by Elvis.

Friends and family are invited to gather for calling hours on Saturday, October 18 from 10 to 11:30 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. A funeral service will take place at 11:30 in the funeral home and burial will be held privately in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
