Barbara D. Aguiar (Thorne) age 73, of Brockton, a beloved wife and mother, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston after a short illness, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Sears) Thorne. She was a graduate of Somerville High School, and was a beloved employee of Christo’s Restaurant, where she worked as a server for many years.
Mrs. Aguiar enjoyed cooking for her family, hosting game nights and looked forward to her summer trips to Cape Cod every year. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched with her big heart, kindness, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor. None more so than her loving family.
Barbara leaves her husband Donald M. Aguiar of Brockton; her two daughters, Michelle Bailey and her husband Terrence of Hanover and Kristen Sherman and her husband Robert of Warwick, RI; a sister Donna Thorne of Waltham; and her cherished grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Ashley Preach, Brittany Bailey, Jasmine Bailey, Krista Bailey, Tiyanna Bailey, Mikayla Bailey, and Shawna Bailey. A loving petowner, she will be missed by her dog, Lincoln and cat, Kipper. She was preceded in death by her son Daniel Preach, Jr.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 4-7pm, with a Memorial Service beginning at 7pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton.
