Obituary

Worcester – Denise M. (Halle) Carlson, of Worcester, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on October 8th, 2025.

Denise is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Paul J. Carlson; two sons, Alexander J. Carlson of Worcester and Aaron J. Carlson of Worcester; three sisters, Cecile Lewis and her husband, Steven of Brimfield, MA, Karen Barrows and her husband, Brian of Longmeadow, MA, and Louise Halle of Springfield, MA. She also leaves one niece Theresa (Barrows) Snyder and her husband Rich, three nephews; Brian Barrows and his wife Melissa, Michael Barrows, and Zachary Lewis. She also leaves two grandnieces; Gihanna Lewis and Halle Snyder, and three grandnephews; Landon and Lucas Barrows and Daniel Snyder. She also leaves two aunts and many cousins.

Denise was born in Manchester, NH, daughter of the late Armand and Therese (Fredette) Halle. Mrs. Carlson was part of the last graduating class in 1978 from the original South High School. She then continued her education at Quinsigamond Community College where she earned an associate’s degree in secretarial science.

Denise worked for the former Paul Revere Insurance Company, but more importantly was a stay-at-home mother for her two sons. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the American Sewing Guild (ASG) and the Rhode Island Sewing Network.

Denise was a gifted and talented seamstress. She was a graduate of the Master Seamstress Program at URI, Feinstein Providence Campus in 2014. She is most proud of the garments she made, especially the two winter coats, cape, and Coco Chanel coat and jacket. She enjoyed sharing her creations with her other sewing sisters. She also made quilts for her immediate family and charity quilts along with her ASG group.

Mrs. Carlson belonged to the Herbal Community of Central Massachusetts where she served as both President and Secretary for the organization. She was a graduate of the second level class of the Clearpath School of Herbal Studies. She was also a member of United Plant Savers.

She enjoyed being amongst her herbal community friends and taking in the love of plants and nature.

A funeral on Wednesday October 15th will be held from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Immaculate Conception Church 353 Grove St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday October 14th from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions in memory of Denise may be made to either VNA Care Hospice Program, Fund Development Office, 100 TradeCenter, Suite G-500, Woburn, MA 01801-1872 or to the United Plant Savers PO Box 147 Rutland, OH 45775.
