EAST WATERBORO/STANDISH- There are a handful of people in this world who are so incredibly special and make such a lasting impression on us that they never leave our hearts, even long after they are gone. Nancy King was one of those rare and beautiful souls. Nan passed away on October 6, 2025, after battling both cardiac issues and pulmonary disease. She was 83 years young.
Nancy was born on April 28, 1942, to Mahlon and Virginia Taylor Fogg, and lived for many years on Peaks Island and in Portland. In 1964, Nancy married Ronald King and together they raised four wonderful children, eventually relocating to Standish in 1997. They enjoyed 56 years of each other’s company, planning family cookouts, camping and bowling together, road trips to see the vibrant fall colors and driving up and down the Maine coast, to name a few. Sadly, Nan lost the love of her life to lung cancer in September of 2020. His friends and family miss him dearly.
Nan had many interests during her lifetime, but she particularly enjoyed knitting and scrapbooking. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the AMVETS Post 6 in New Gloucester as well as both a Girl Scout and a Cub Scout leader. She also loved and looked forward to Christmas all year long because everyone in the entire family would gather under one roof in her home and celebrate. Those were the times that she cherished the most.
Nancy was employed for 40 years at Fairchild Semiconductor in South Portland.
Nancy King is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Michelle Joy and husband David and Mrs. Deb Larochelle and husband John, two sons: Jeff and wife Tina and George and wife Mandy, grandchildren: Jessica Roth and husband Patrick, Jennifer Joy and wife Dani Fazio, Katrina Larochelle, Cassondra Tranchemontagne and husband Tyler, Jeffrey King II and wife Ellen, Stevie (Buck) Wingate and husband Jacob, and Daniel and Bryon King, and great grandchildren: Weston John Tranchemontagne and Landon Wingate. She is also survived by a brother, David Huskins and wife Rhonda from Mechanic Falls as well as several nieces and a great nephew. She will be sorely missed by her lifelong friends Donna and Everett Brown from Windham as well as every single neighbor she ever lived with from Meadowview Senior Housing in Gray.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday Oct. 15th at 10 AM at Dow’s Corner Cemetery on Cape Rd. in Standish, followed by a Celebration of Life at 53 Partridge Rd. in E. Waterboro, Maine.

If anyone wishes to honor Nan’s memory and how her compassionate nature touched so very many lives, please consider carrying on her legacy of kindness by living with a more nurturing heart, a gentler and more gracious spirit and by spreading positive energy wherever you go. She would’ve liked that.
