John Michael Mountzuris, 71, of Worcester, formerly of Clinton has passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 3rd after courageously facing a long illness.
John was a 1972 graduate of Clinton High School, Clinton. He received his Degree in Pharmacy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1977. He furthered his studies, receiving a Master's Degree in Business from Nichols College. He then pursued his dream achieving his Doctor of Pharmacy degree, with honors, from The University of Illinois specializing in Oncology Pharmacology. He worked in many areas of pharmacy including hospital pharmacy, outpatient pharmacy and clinic trials in medical oncology.
John enjoyed playing racquet ball and spending time with his dear family. He was devoted to his Greek Orthodox faith and its culture.
He was a man of great integrity who had a kind and compassionate heart. He touched the lives of many including students, coworkers, friends and family with his wisdom and kindness. He will be deeply missed but has left many memories to cherish.
John was a loving life partner, son, brother and uncle.
He leaves his beloved life partner Priscilla Calcagni, his daughter-in-law, Dr. Patricia Zub, his brother Ted Mountzuris, sister-in-law Anna Mountzuris, sister-in-law Lisa Mountzuris Herrin, Priscilla’s grandchildren, Cole, Eli, and Justina Calcagni, nephew Matthew Mountzuris, nieces Marianthe Mountzuris and (Monica Montgomery), nephews Andrew and Christopher Mountzuris and (fiancée Carly Anderson her daughter Mackenzie), great nephew Ezra Mountzuris. His aunt Sophia Moschos, Priscilla’s nieces, Tracy, Karen and nephew Thomas Leary and many cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Nicoletta (Gamvas) Mountzuris, his brother Arthur Mountzuris and Priscilla’s sons, David, Jeffrey, Brian, and Christopher Calcagni.

Calling hours are Wednesday, October 8th from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. in Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, 9 Central Street, Marlborough followed by his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery 162 Webster Street, Worcester. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, 9 Central St, Marlborough MA or any animal shelter of your choice (in honor of his beloved dog Patches).
