BUXTON- Joyce M. Cox, 86 of Buxton passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at Gosnell House, with her son by her side.
Joyce was born on August 5, 1939, in Lubec Maine, the daughter of the late Muriel McCurdy Cox and the late Gilbert P. Cox.
She grew up in Standish and attended schools there, graduating in 1958 from Standish High School. She worked at many places over the years including The Limerick Shoe Shop, National Semiconductor, Woody & Mary’s Restaurant to name a few, but her passion was the many years she spent on the ocean lobstering with her life partner, the late Carlton Nida.
Joyce is predeceased by her parents, Muriel and Gilbert (Gib) Cox, and her partner Carlton Nida. She is survived by her son Peter Cox of Buxton, his ex-wife Tamra Cox of Buxton, her grandson Jaret Cox and his wife Jessica, and her great granddaughters Madison Cox and Maci Cox, of Buxton. She is also survived by her Uncles James Ritchie and Dana Cox, many cousins, distant family and numerous friends.
Joyce loved everyone she met and everyone who met her, loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations be made to The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland in remembrance of Joyce as she was an avid animal lover.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday October 10, 2025, at Dow's Corner Cemetery, Standish, Maine.
