Leandro Lopes Carvalho (74) of Bissau, Guinea Bissau died September 30th in Massachusetts surrounded by the love and presence of his family.
Leandro was born in Guinea-Bissau, the son of the late Simao Lopes de Carvalho and Leopoldina Gomes Tavares de Carvalho. He lived a life guided by honesty, humility, and an unshakable moral compass. His family was his greatest joy, and he led by example—teaching his children the value of hard work, keeping one's word, and treating everyone with respect.
In Leandro’s early years, he proudly served in the military for his country, contributing to Guinea Bissau’s independence from the Portuguese. He later went on to complete his college degree in Argentina and became an educator. After building a successful career in education, he made the bold decision to pursue his true passion: travel. An avid traveler at heart, Leandro believed the world was meant to be seen and experienced. In his later years, he switched professions to join the airline industry, where he found a second home in the skies. He spent his career earning the admiration of colleagues for his fairness, dedication, and principled approach. Outside of work, he was a man of quiet faith, generous heart, always willing to lend a hand, offer sound advice, or share a warm smile.
Leandro is survived by sons, Amilcar de Carvalho of Guinea-Bissau, Michael Carvalho of Brockton, and Richie Carvalho of Gambia, daughters, Lisa Carvalho of Taunton, Daiana Carvalho of Brockton, Linda Carvalho of Brockton, Melany Carvalho of Florida, Diana Carvalho of Mexico, and Valerie Carvalho of Gambia, brothers, Waldemar Martins Silva, Agripino Spencer Carvalho, Teofilo Spencer Carvalho, Adriao Carvalho, and Joao Carlos Carvalho, sisters, Maria de Carvalho Monteiro and Maria Micaela Gomes de Carvalho, and 9 grandchildren.
Visitation in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, Monday October 6th from 5-8 pm.
Services in the Funeral Home, Tuesday October 7th at 9 am. Burial to follow in Melrose Cemetery, 88 N Pearl Street Brockton.
