Obituary

WEBSTER – Paula Ann (Mackowiak) Ramirez, 91, died Monday, September 30, 2025 at home in the presence of her family.

She leaves her husband of 67 years, Dr. Ramiro N. Ramirez; 3 children, Ernest J. Ramirez of Charlton, Vincent P. Ramirez and his wife Elizabeth of Auburn, and Victoria A. Barter and her husband Thomas of North Oxford; 4 grandchildren, Katherine and Matthew Ramirez, and Megan and Adam Barter; a brother, Edwin Mackowiak and his wife Erline of Webster; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother John Mackowiak, by her sister Ursula Romanek and by her daughter-in-law, Amy Witter Ramirez.

She was born on July 11, 1934 in Webster, the daughter of John and Stasia (Kos) Mackowiak and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1952. She then earned an associate’s degree from New York University. She lived in Auburn for many years before moving to Webster Lake in 1990.

Mrs. Ramirez was the head dietician at the former Worcester City Hospital for 35 years before retiring in 2000.

She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica. She and her husband traveled a great deal over the years: a favorite destination was Mexico. She liked to spend time in her garden and loved living on the lake.

Her funeral will be held Monday, October 6, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 1:00 PM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 5, in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to Care Central VNA and Hospice, 534 School Street, Webster, MA 01570.
