Robin F. Noponen, 65, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, September 25th at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her two brothers, Mark and Matthew Noponen; two sisters, Anne Noponen Singer and Barbara Noponen; and three nephews, Zachary, Thomas, and Nicholas Noponen, all of Worcester. She was predeceased by her parents, Francis W. and Irene F. (McNulty) Noponen.
Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Robin was raised with a strong sense of family and community. She attended Columbus Park School, graduating from the David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School. She went on to study Early Childhood Education at Quinsigamond Community College.
Over the years, Robin worked as a medical unit secretary at Fairlawn Hospital. Later transitioning to the retail industry as a sales associate; first for the Ames/Zayre Corporation, finally retiring from the Big Y Foods, Inc.
Robin treasured time spent with her three nephews who brought her immense joy and pride. A woman of simple pleasures that included board and video games. She enjoyed the challenge of word puzzles. In earlier years Robin enjoyed roller skating, dancing and attending concerts. A collector at heart, she took pleasure in shopping for unique treasures. Robin loved to travel, though she was most content at home.
Robin will be remembered for her gentle spirit and loyalty to those she loved. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 4th from 9:00am until 11:00am in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester.
