DANNY LUCAS OBITUARY
Danny James Lucas, 76, of Gipsy, PA passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at home with his loving wife, Joyce and stepdaughter, Jill by his side.
The son of Robert “James” and Carrie “Florence” (Gardner) Lucas, he was born on September 14, 1949 in Glen Campbell, PA.
Danny was a life member of the Glen Campbell United Methodist Church.
A Vietnam veteran, Danny served in the US Army as a SP4 and was a member of the Glen Campbell American Legion Post.
On May 17, 1989 he wed Joyce Ann (Sturgeon) and they have shared thirty-six years of marriage.
Danny had worked as an equipment operator at coal strip mines. For most of his life, Danny worked at his family’s Lucas Farm in Montgomery Twp.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Danny was very appreciated and loved by his family. He thoroughly loved playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Gipsy, PA; five stepchildren: Joseph Larson and wife Sherri; Jackie Scott; Jennifer Rankin; Jill Hoch and husband, Denny and Janet Goodlin and husband, Dennis and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Also surviving are his five brothers: Dwight Lucas; Douglas Lucas; Timothy Lucas; David Lucas and Todd Lucas and his sister-in-law, Cheryl “Sherry” (Nichol) Lucas and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; his brother E. Delbert Lucas and his stepson, Jerald “Jerry” Bartlebaugh.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where an 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 with Pastor Ray Hill officiating. Military Honors will be observed by the Glen Campbell American Legion. Interment will be at the Burnside Cemetery in Burnside, PA.
