James Eston Bridges of Tifton passed away September 11, 2025, at the age of 73 at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Jim is survived by one daughter, Alison Bridges (Evan) of Washington, D.C.; and two sons, Daniel Bridges (Catherine) and William Bridges, both of Atlanta, GA. He leaves behind three granddaughters. He is predeceased by his brother, Bob Bridges; his father, Benjamin Ira Bridges; and his mother, Christine Dorothy Tucker Bridges.
Jim was born in Tifton on January 2, 1952. He graduated from the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and mass Communications in 1974 and worked in A/V and video production throughout his career.
Jim had wide-ranging interests that shaped much of his life. He loved music, especially Steely Dan and Frank Zappa. He had a lifelong fascination with aviation, astronomy, and politics, and he enjoyed lively discussions on all three with friends and family. Movies were another passion – he particularly admired the offbeat vision of David Lynch, Mel Brooks, and Groucho Marx. His sense of humor was sharp, and George Carlin remained a favorite throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held for Jim at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
